Andreas Bender

Young winemaker Andreas Bender has sites across the heart of the Mosel Valley. Having lived and worked in the region all his life he knows each area well, and which sites are likely to thrive each vintage. His method is distinctive in the world of German wine: instead of following the familiar model whereby top single vineyards are vinified and bottled separately, he blends his vineyards to achieve three different styles. On good years the best cuvées, from single vineyard sites with the most concentrated fruit are bottled as his black label ‘Zenit’.

Mosel, one of Germany's most renowned wine regions, is celebrated for its world-class Riesling wines. Located along the winding Mosel River, it benefits from a cool climate and steep, slate-rich vineyards that capture optimal sunlight. These conditions are ideal for producing Riesling, which is known for its vibrant acidity, minerality, and expressive fruit flavours, often featuring notes of green apple, peach, and citrus. Mosel Rieslings range from bone-dry to lusciously sweet, showcasing remarkable complexity and ageing potential. The area also produces excellent Elbling and Pinot Blanc.
