This cuvee, made from limestone terroirs in Thauvenay town, is harvested when the aromatic peak of classic Sancerre Blanc is exceeded. This choice of harvest date as well as fermentation and ageing for 50% in barrels / 50% in concrete amphorae, brings complexity, richness and length to this atypical Sancerre.
Always a dry wine profile, this vintage is perfect as an aperitif or will accompany grilled fish dishes, smoked fish, poultry and desserts with yellow fruits.
Sancerre, the most famous wine from the Loire Valley, allows Sauvignon to express great aromatic purity and remarkable balance. This is a fresh and fruity wine with a hint of flint and minerality on the finish.
Anthony Girard, an endearing and energetic young winemaker, started his own production in 2012 after completing his training at the family estate. Attached to its Sancerre roots, he set up in Recy, a hamlet in the south of the appellation and took on 8.5 hectares with excellent soils. Two thirds of these are composed of "caillottes" (Sancerre limestones) bringing freshness and fruitiness to its wine and a third of flint for power and minerality.
"Producer Anthony Girard took over the estate in 2012. This single-vineyard wine is full of ripe yellow fruits as well as citrus and grapefruit freshness. It will age further, so drink from 2023."
