Description

An elegant and complex wine with a deep ruby hue and garnet reflections. The nose is layered with ripe blackberries, dark cherries, and plums, intertwined with notes of vanilla, cocoa, and sweet spice from oak ageing, alongside hints of dried herbs and graphite. On the palate, it is silky and well-structured, with fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity, balancing rich dark fruit, liquorice, and tobacco nuances. The long, harmonious finish lingers with dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and a touch of balsamic complexity. A refined Rioja Reserva, drinking beautifully now with the potential to evolve further.

Finca Valpiedra

Part of the Familia Martinez Bujanda family, Finca Valpiedra is located on one of the most spectacular meanders of the Ebro River, where 80 hectares of vineyards are planted. It is one of the only four large meanders that exist in La Rioja. The vineyard forms a spectacular landscape that is distributed in three terraces that go down to the river itself, and which after years of work, the technical team has divided into fourteen different plots.

Rioja

Rioja, located in northern Spain, is one of the country’s most prestigious and renowned wine regions. The region benefits from a diverse climate with influences from both the Mediterranean and Atlantic, contributing to its varied wine styles.
Famous for its reds, primarily made from Tempranillo, which produce wines known for their depth, rich fruit flavours, and well-integrated oak characteristics, the region also produces notable blends incorporating Garnacha and Graciano. Rioja’s whites, including those from Viura and Malvasía, are celebrated for their freshness, aromatic complexity, and balanced acidity. Historically, Rioja has a winemaking tradition dating back to Roman times. The region gained prominence in the 19th century with the influence of French winemaking techniques, and today it is recognised for its commitment to both traditional and modern practices. Rioja's classification system, including Crianza, Reserva, and Gran Reserva, reflects its dedication to quality and aging potential, making it a benchmark for Spanish wine.
