The Tempranillo grapes were were grown at 900 metres altitude in what is known as “El Monte Alto de Pesquera” or “the Highlands of Pesquera”. In the winery, the Pesquera MXI grapes go through a rigorous selection process. This fresh, fruity wine was aged for 14 months at the winery in carefully chosen barrels of different capacities, toasted with a medium char.
On the nose, lovely fresh aromas. Hints of red berries and black fruits with blackberries and raspberries come to the fore. Creamy notes come through and then make way for subtle touches of oak brought by the wine’s ageing in barrel.
On the palate - Full bodied, fruity and flavoursome, with well-integrated acidity and round tannins, which give great length on the palate, vanilla and smooth toffee notes come through in the finish.

A true benchmark for all Ribera del Duero wines, Pesquera was founded in 1972 by Alejandro Fernández and Esperanza Rivera. Throughout his lifetime Fernández (affectionately known in the wine world as The King of Tempranillo), brought this region to the forefront of wine excellence, with Robert Parker regarding Tinto Pesquera as one of the world’s greatest wines. The Fernández Rivera Family oversee four wineries - two in Ribera del Duero, one in Castilla y León and another in La Mancha.
Ribera del Duero is a prestigious wine region located in northern Spain, renowned for its exceptional red wines, primarily made from the Tempranillo grape, locally known as Tinta del País or Tinto Fino. The region spans the upper valley of the Duero River and benefits from a continental climate with hot, dry summers and harsh winters, which contribute to the unique character of its wines. The combination of high altitude, limestone-rich soils, and significant temperature variations between day and night enhances the concentration and complexity of the grapes. Ribera del Duero is home to some of Spain’s most celebrated wineries, including Vega Sicilia and Dominio de Pingus, which produce bold, full-bodied wines with rich flavours of dark fruit, spices, and a distinct earthy quality. Established as a Denomination of Origin (DO) in 1982, the region has quickly become synonymous with high-quality, age-worthy wines that compete on the world stage.
