Description

From the Kaikyo Distillery comes Hatozaki Pure Malt, made with 100% malt whiskies, including stocks distilled in Japan as well as imported malt whiskies. This one features spirits drawn from a trio of casks - bourbon, sherry and Mizunara casks. It's named after the nearby Hatozaki lighthouse, which is the oldest stone lighthouse in Japan.

Nose: Aromas of dried fruit, sweet malt, a drizzle of honey, aromatic incense and sandalwood.

Palate: Rich and complex with a good helping of malt, aromatic spices, dried fruit and toasted cereal notes, with a slightly creamy vanilla undertone.

Finish: Delicately smoky and sweet honey on the finish, with a lingering cigar box.

Kaikyo Distillery

Located near the coastal town of Akashi, Japan, Kaikyo Distillery is named after the iconic Akashi-Kaikyō Bridge—the longest suspension bridge in the world. Whisky production at the distillery began in May 2017, continuing a local legacy of craftsmanship. Kaikyo is best known for its Hatozaki Whisky, as well as the artisanal Hyogo 135° East Dry Gin, which reflects a blend of Japanese botanicals and Western gin-making techniques.
