Description

Relentless is a blend of Syrah and Petite Sirah that originates in a rugged, sloping vineyard planted in the chaparral foothills of the Vaca Mountains, along Napa Valley’s drier, cooler southeast corridor. The soul of the wine, though, comes from its namesake, our longtime winemaker, Elias Fernandez, who the Shafer family honours with this proprietary blend for his relentless pursuit of quality.

“The first pour offers an endlessly rich density of meaty, smoky, black fruit aromas while the wine saturates the mouth with deep flavours of black liquorice, bramble fruit, black pepper, allspice, bacon, and char. All of this opulence is energized with underlying acidity and bound together with structured, ripe tannins built for very long term age-ability.”
(Shafer winemaker Elias Fernandez)

Shafer Vineyards

The property at Shafer has been the site of winemaking since Napa Valley’s first boom in 1880. John Shafer purchased the site in 1972 and began planting the hillside estate to Cabernet Sauvignon making his first wine in 1978. Later, Doug Shafer and Elias Fernandez joined the winery, as winemaker and assistant winemaker. In 2002 Elias was named Food & Wine’s “Winemaker of the Year”. The team continue to make wines the trademark Shafer style of elegance, richness, and balance.

Napa Valley

Napa Valley, located in Northern California, is one of the world's most renowned wine regions. Famous for its exceptional wine quality and beautiful landscapes, it benefits from a Mediterranean climate with warm days and cool nights, ideal for viticulture. Particularly celebrated for its full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon and rich Chardonnay, which are among the most sought-after wines globally, the region also produces notable Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Sauvignon Blanc, each reflecting the valley's diverse terroirs and microclimates. Historically, Napa Valley's winemaking roots date back to the 19th century, but it gained significant prominence in the 1970s with its success in international wine competitions.
