Description

This orange wine makes you smile with every sip. If you like your skin-fermented wines with a bit less extraction, with more balance & elegance... Then this is the one for you!

‘This is a skin macerated white from the Alentejo. It has a full yellow colour and a nose of honey, citrus, orange peel & spice. The palate is powerful, vivid, intense & concentrated with marmalade & lime flavours, juicy acidity, & a little bit of structure. I love the freshness & density here: it’s a really striking wine.’ (Jamie Goode)

Due to its extra tannin structure it is able to compete with spicy chorizo, lamb, aubergine, walnuts & tahini.

Casa Clara

Casa Clara is a 3rd generation family project and their wines are created 100% from the grapes of their two properties located in the heart of Alentejo: the Herdade da Capela, on the left bank of the Guadiana, in the Moura sub-region, and Quinta de D. Maria in the Serra do Mendro, near the Alqueva, in the sub-region of Vidigueira.

The name of the company is a tribute to Mariana’s mother, Clara Roque do Vale, who have always be linked to the world of wines, having been distinguished in 2020 with the award "The Best of the Year" (together with Jancis Robinson MW) of Revista de Vinhos who highlighted her as a "pioneer, booster and profound militant of the development of Alentejo as a region producing wines of international quality".

Alentejo

Alentejo, located in southern Portugal, is one of the country's largest wine regions. Known for its vast, sun-drenched landscapes and diverse terroirs, it benefits from a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters, which is ideal for viticulture.
The area is renowned for its robust red wines, often crafted from indigenous varieties such as Aragonez (Tempranillo), Trincadeira, and Alicante Bouschet. These reds are characterised by their rich, full-bodied profiles, with deep fruit flavours, well-integrated tannins, and a smooth finish. It also produces notable whites from grapes like Antão Vaz and Arinto, which are known for their fresh acidity, citrus notes, and aromatic qualities.
