The name “Folatieres” evokes the old French word “Foletiere”, meaning a place where goblins, leprechauns and other mythical beings dwell. The vineyard has a whimsical and graceful charm, like dancing lights. This large vineyard is not uniform, but they are fortunate to own a single plot of 0.52 hectares in the core of the cru, at the middle of the slope and flanked by two prestigious neighbours (Domaines Leflaive and Leroy.) This terroir, a mix of limestone and clay, is one of the finest Premier Crus of Puligny, along with “Le Cailleret” and “Les Pucelles”. It deserves to be among the “Great Premier Crus, " which rival the Grand Crus. This is a stunning wine– delicate, lively, complex, floral and spicy. It has a generous palate with structure and length, indicating a long ageing potential.
