Description

Dark and unashamedly rich, with roasted coffee bean, dark chocolate and vanilla over ripe mulberry, plum and maraschino cherry. The tannins are soft and the finish is warm and mocha-scented. The coffee character comes from the winemaking rather than any flavouring: a specific yeast strain, tightly controlled ferment temperatures and a short spell in heavily toasted oak, a style Bertus Fourie pioneered for Pinotage. Fruit is sourced from across the Western Cape.

Barista Wines

Home of the legendary winemaker, Bertus Fourie, nicknamed ‘Starbucks’ for his exceptional skill in drawing out the coffee-like aromas of South Africa's signature grape.

Western Cape

South Africa's Western Cape is a premier wine region, renowned for its diverse and high-quality wines. It benefits from a Mediterranean climate with warm, sunny days and cooling ocean breezes, ideal for viticulture. Western Cape is famous for its full-bodied reds, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, which offer rich fruit flavours and well-structured tannins. The area also excels in producing crisp, refreshing whites, particularly from Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc, known for their vibrant acidity and expressive fruit notes.
