Description

This Chateau de Merande Son Altesse 2022 is a stunning expression of the Altesse grape. It showcases a delightful balance between richness and freshness, complexity and elegance. On the nose, it bursts with an intense and complex symphony. Expect a medley of fresh fruits like pear, apricot, and apple, interwoven with vibrant floral notes of jasmine and honeysuckle. A touch of citrus zest, like lime or grapefruit, adds a refreshing edge, while a subtle almond fragrance rounds out the bouquet. The flavors mirror the nose, but with added depth and dimension. Ripe stone fruit leads the charge, followed by citrusy sparks and a whisper of honey. Mineral undertones, reminiscent of wet stones or crushed limestone, add complexity and intrigue.

Chateau de Merande

André and Daniel, after a detour through another profession, one in teaching and the other in nursing, are keen to perpetuate and develop Château de Mérande while returning to the fundamentals. One and a half hectares, on the glacial moraines of Mérande, are planted in Altesse and produce Roussette de Savoie, the great white wine of Savoie.

Savoie

Savoie, in the French Alps, is renowned for its cool climate wines and stunning landscapes. The mountainous terroir and varied soils produce fresh, aromatic wines. It excels in white wines from indigenous grapes like Jacquère, Altesse (Roussette), and Roussanne, known for their crisp acidity and delicate floral and fruity aromas. Light, vibrant reds from Mondeuse and Gamay, as well as delightful sparkling wines, are also prominent. Reflecting the alpine environment, Savoie wines pair perfectly with local cuisine, such as cheeses and freshwater fish. Savoie offers a captivating experience for wine enthusiasts seeking unique and high-quality alpine wines.
