Description

Matetic vineyards embody the pioneering spirit and vision of modern Chilean winemaking. This biodynamic project was founded in 1999 by the Matetic family, originally Croatian settlers who arrived in Chilean Patagonia in 1892. Having established themselves as farmers with extensive landholdings, the fourth generation of the family turned their attention to grapes. Confident of the climate and soils attributes in the coastal El Rosario Valley of San Antonio, they planted 120 hectares of vines and now farm 160 hectares of coastal biodynamic vineyard. The Corallilo range forms the entry-level: expressive, fruit-forward wines that showcase the varietal purity possible in this coastal terroir.

Matetic

Matetic is nestled in the San Antonio Valley of Chile, and celebrated for its exceptional biodynamic wines. Established in 1999 by the Matetic family, the estate focuses on sustainable viticulture and minimal intervention winemaking. Matetic cultivates a variety of grapes, including Syrah, Pinot Noir, and Sauvignon Blanc, producing wines that reflect the unique coastal terroir. Their wines are renowned for their elegance, complexity, and vibrant acidity.

Aconcagua Region

The Aconcagua Region in Chile, named after the towering Aconcagua Mountain, is a prominent wine-producing area known for its diverse terroirs and high-quality wines. This region, located north of Santiago, benefits from a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and cool nights, ideal for viticulture. The Aconcagua Valley and the Aconcagua Costa sub-regions offer distinct wine profiles due to their varied climates and soils.

The Aconcagua Valley is renowned for its robust red wines, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, which showcase rich, concentrated flavours and excellent structure. Meanwhile, the Aconcagua Costa, closer to the Pacific Ocean, excels in producing elegant, cool-climate wines like Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, characterized by vibrant acidity and complex aromas.
