Description

The NV Brut Rose is largely derived from Bouzy, supplemented by some 10% Ambonnay fruit. Its denomination BA1660 refers to the communes from which is is produced, its base vintage (2016) and the wine's dosage of 6 g/litre (60). Offering up aromas of strawberries, fresh pear, mint, honeycomb and pastry, the wine is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, with a nicely concentrated core of fruit, racy acids and good length on the finish. While it is sufficiently fruit-driven to be more than approachable today, there's enough underlying structure here to suggest good aging potential, too. Drink 2019 - 2033.

Valentin Leflaive

Daring to take risks has become the hallmark of Olivier Leflaive. Since 2015, a new chapter has been written in Oger, at the heart of the great terroirs of the Côte des Blancs, that of a Champagne de Lieux. Named for his son Valentin, this estate is a fresh, slightly offbeat project for the Burgundy producer. Valentin Leflaive is an invitation to discover the best of what Champagne has to offer, an excursion into terroirs and memories.

Champagne

Located in northeastern France, it benefits from a cool climate and chalky soils, which are ideal for producing high-quality grapes. It is particularly famous for its traditional method sparkling wines, known simply as Champagne, made primarily from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier grapes. These wines are celebrated for their fine bubbles, crisp acidity, and complex flavours, often displaying notes of citrus, apple, brioche, and minerals. The region is divided into several sub-regions, including Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne, and Côte des Blancs, each contributing unique characteristics to the wines. With its long history of winemaking excellence, distinctive terroir, and luxurious wines, the Champagne region offers an unparalleled experience for wine enthusiasts seeking the epitome of sparkling wine.
