Description

The Herdade do Sobroso winery sits on the banks of the River Guadiana, a region with over 2000 years of wine-making history and tradition. The Romans introduced the vine into the DOC Vidigueira region, which is where the winery is situated, and they named the river "Rio dos Patos" or "River of the Ducks".

The wine is clear and bright, with a fine and mineral aroma that highlights citrus and pineapple notes. On the palate, it is fresh, elegant, and balanced, making it a perfect pairing for gambas pil pil, seafood, and lighter dishes. The blend is made up of Antão Vaz, Arinto, and Perrum grapes, grown on clay-loam soils.

Herdade do Sobroso

Founded by Sofia Ginestal Machado and Filipe Teixeira Pinto, Herdade do Sobroso is part of a unique landscape, full of historical and heritage reminiscences, now strongly marked by its proximity to the largest artificial lake in Europe, the Alqueva Dam. A unique 1600 hectare property with many ancient cork oaks.

Alentejo

Alentejo, located in southern Portugal, is one of the country's largest wine regions. Known for its vast, sun-drenched landscapes and diverse terroirs, it benefits from a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters, which is ideal for viticulture.
The area is renowned for its robust red wines, often crafted from indigenous varieties such as Aragonez (Tempranillo), Trincadeira, and Alicante Bouschet. These reds are characterised by their rich, full-bodied profiles, with deep fruit flavours, well-integrated tannins, and a smooth finish. It also produces notable whites from grapes like Antão Vaz and Arinto, which are known for their fresh acidity, citrus notes, and aromatic qualities.
