José Luis Gómez Bastías is the 5th generation to cultivate his family’s vineyards along the Maule River's south bank, in Chile’s 'rulo' region. Unlike many in Maule and Bio Bio, they’ve preserved their 200-year-old País bush vines, avoiding replanting with more popular international varietals. They uphold traditional farming and winemaking practices, respecting nature and treating agriculture as a way of life, not just a business. Their four hectares host fruit trees, wildlife, and sheep for natural fertilisation. In 2013, José Luis met agronomist Daniela Lorenzo, who joined him in the project and in life. Together, they focus on sustainable practices, preserving their land’s history while expanding and improving their vineyards.
