Jean-Baptiste Menigoz

Jean-Baptiste Menigoz is a rising star in the natural wine scene, based in the Jura region of France. Alongside his partner, Fanny Thibault, Jean-Baptiste runs Domaine des Bottes Rouges, a small but highly regarded winery known for its vibrant, terroir-driven wines that reflect the unique character of the Jura.
Jean-Baptiste, originally a schoolteacher, shifted to winemaking after being inspired by the natural wine movement and apprenticing with noted Jura winemaker Jean-François Ganevat. He established Domaine des Bottes Rouges in 2012, and since then, he has been crafting wines that emphasize minimal intervention, purity, and a deep connection to the land.
The estate covers around 7 hectares, with vineyards planted to a mix of Jura’s traditional grape varieties, including Savagnin, Chardonnay, Trousseau, and Poulsard. The vineyards are farmed organically, with biodynamic principles playing a significant role in their management. Jean-Baptiste is dedicated to maintaining the health and vitality of the soils, using natural methods to encourage biodiversity and balance in the vineyard.

Jura
