Description

A luscious blend of three Greek indigenous red varieties: Limnio, Mavroudi and Mavrotragano. Limnio, mentioned by comic dramatist Aristophanes as "Limnia ampelos" in the 5th century BC (vine from the Greek island Limnos), is the oldest attested Greek grape variety and predominates in this blend.

Following extraction and completion of alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in special oak tanks from Burgundy, the wine matures in French oak barrels.

It has a brilliant, deep-red colour and a complex bouquet of ripe dark fruits (raspberries), raisins, coffee and cacao. On the palate, gentle tannins are supported by an abundance of fruit, creating power and balance. The aftertaste continues with a repetition of the spices. Excellent ageing potential.

Ktima Gerovassiliou

Ktima Gerovassiliou is the brainchild of Vangelis Gerovassiliou. In 1981, he started reviving the family vineyard extending over 2.5 hectares in the Papamola region of Epanomi, approximately 25 km southeast of Thessaloniki. In this unique ecosystem he planted mainly Greek, but also foreign grape varieties. The first vinification took place in 1986 at the modern winery that was built by the vineyard. Vangelis Gerovassiliou and his wife, Sonia Tziola-Gerovassiliou have imparted their love for wine and vine-growing both to their children and the estate's employees. Argyris, Marianthi and Vassiliki –the second generation who contribute to the estate with knowledge and fresh ideas.

Northern Greece

Northern Greece, known for its varied landscapes and cooler climate, excels in distinctive wines. The diverse terroirs, including mountains and plains, create ideal conditions for viticulture. Macedonia is particularly noted for Xinomavro, a red grape producing deep, complex wines with ageing potential, especially from Naoussa and Amynteo. The area also shines with aromatic whites from Assyrtiko and Malagousia, featuring fresh, citrusy profiles. Thrace adds to the region's reputation with robust reds and crisp whites. Northern Greece offers a rich and varied wine experience, combining traditional techniques with unique terroirs for exceptional quality and character.
