Description

Sybille Kuntz farms the Mosel's Maximin Herrenberg, a steep red-slate site she manages biodynamically, and ferments with native yeasts. This dry Riesling shows the searing minerality typical of the slate, with citrus, green apple and a saline, almost smoky edge. Kuntz is known for picking earlier than many neighbours to preserve acidity and freshness, giving a taut, linear style that favours precision over richness. A serious, food friendly dry Riesling with real terroir signature.

Sybille Kuntz

The Kuntz family has been living in Lieser, in the heart of the German Mosel valley, for centuries, tending the Lieser vineyards and making wine there. They made casks and barrels, oversaw the filtration and bottling of wines for other wine growers, and they also acted as wine merchants. Sybille Kuntz spent a good deal of her childhood working in those vineyards until making them her own. The best and the largest parcels of the in total 20 ha (50 acres) of vineyards where the SYBILLE KUNTZ Riesling is growing are situated in the grand cru site Niederberg-Helden in Lieser.

Mosel

Mosel, one of Germany's most renowned wine regions, is celebrated for its world-class Riesling wines. Located along the winding Mosel River, it benefits from a cool climate and steep, slate-rich vineyards that capture optimal sunlight. These conditions are ideal for producing Riesling, which is known for its vibrant acidity, minerality, and expressive fruit flavours, often featuring notes of green apple, peach, and citrus. Mosel Rieslings range from bone-dry to lusciously sweet, showcasing remarkable complexity and ageing potential. The area also produces excellent Elbling and Pinot Blanc. With its picturesque landscapes, historic vineyards, and dedication to quality, Mosel offers a truly exceptional wine experience for enthusiasts seeking some of the finest Rieslings in the world.
