"This legendary Italian wine, which was first produced in 1971, is now celebrating its 50th birthday. Happy birthday, Tignanello! The Marchesi Antinori 2021 Tignanello (made from 79% Sangiovese, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Cabernet Franc) makes everyone's heart beat faster. The wine shows a thoroughly pretty flavour profile with aromas of tart fruit, redcurrants, tea leaves, roses, crushed white pepper, liquorice, nutmeg, cloves and chopped mint. It opens slowly to reveal more richness and exuberance over time, becoming downright lush and intoxicating a short time later. However, the through-line remains the bright freshness and minerality of the Sangiovese. Compared to the 2018 vintage (which I also liked very much), this vintage has more fruit weight and volume overall." WINE ADVOCATE 98 Points
