Description

Marmajuelo is an indigenous Canarian grape that, in the hands of Bodegas Tameran, creates an elegant wine that combines zesty citrus characters with an ethereal floral quality. A deliciously intriguing white that full expresses its origin.

Very fresh and inviting, there are aromas of freshly squeezed passion fruit and lime juice. The palate has a beautiful texture, with apricot, orange, lime and rose notes- a beguiling, quite distinctive combination.

Bodega Tameran

Tamerán was set up in 2019, by footballer, and Canary Islands native, David Silva. David became friends with Jonathan García (owner and winemaker at Suertes del Marqués) after enjoying one of his wines, and discussed the possibility of a project together. When an estate on Gran Canaria came up for sale, David asked Jonathan to come on-board as viticulturalist and winemaker. Located between 600 and 700 metres above sea level, on south facing slopes, with sandy volcanic soils, the vineyards are planted with local varieties including Verdello, Marmajuelo, and Baboso Blanco. They have got off to a flying start, the first vintage received plaudits and the highest scores ever for wines from the island in Guía Peñín.

Canary Islands

The Canary Islands, an archipelago off the northwest coast of Africa, are an intriguing wine region known for their unique and diverse offerings. The islands benefit from a subtropical climate with moderate temperatures year-round, influenced by the surrounding Atlantic Ocean and varied altitudes.
They are renowned for their distinctive wines made from indigenous grape varieties such as Listán Negro, Listán Blanco, and Malvasía. These wines often exhibit unique characteristics due to the volcanic soil and diverse microclimates of the islands. The reds, particularly from Listán Negro, offer bright fruit flavours and mineral complexity, while the whites, including those made from Malvasía, are celebrated for their aromatic profiles and crisp freshness.
