Carmenere, a Chilean speciality, is practically non-existent in the rest of the world. Vina casablanca's comes from Pichidegua, 87 miles south of Santiago in the Rapel Valley. A broad annual temperature range and the absence of rain during the harvest season allows the grapes to reach their peak maturity, which is essential for this variety.
Grapes are hand-picked and then undergo a double selection process, once for bunches and another for individual berries. After fermentation, the wine is aged in first and second-use French oak barrels for 12 months before bottling.
This wine's fresh berry aromas blend perfectly with the sweet notes of toffee, cinnamon, and coconut from the oak. On the palate, it displays good body, structure, and soft, round tannins, making it a complex wine with a long finish.
Pair with Indian curry spicy sauteed beef or chicken tandoori.
