Description

Château Calon-Ségur displays a complex bouquet of dark fruits such as blackcurrant and blackberry, interwoven with notes of cedar, tobacco, and a hint of graphite. It is full-bodied and structured on the palate, with firm, refined tannins that give it a muscular yet graceful profile. Earthy undertones and a refreshing minerality complement the flavours of ripe plums, cassis, and a touch of mocha. The wine’s long, persistent finish is marked by a delicate balance between its rich fruit core and fine acidity, promising excellent ageing potential. This vintage beautifully showcases the depth and elegance that are signatures of Calon-Ségur.

Chateau Calon Segur

Historians have identified the successive owners of Calon since the 12th century, with the Gascq, Ségur, Dumoulin, Lestapis and Gasqueton families being among the most recent and best known. The current owners undertook large-scale renovation works that respected both the place and its soul. The vineyards of Calon Ségur are unique since its terroir resembles no other. While its altitude doesn’t go above 13 metres, its relief is sharp, and its slopes favour good rainwater drainage.

Bordeaux

Bordeaux, one of the most prestigious wine regions in the world, is located in southwestern France and is celebrated for its exceptional wines. It benefits from a temperate maritime climate, influenced by the nearby Atlantic Ocean, providing ideal conditions for viticulture. It is particularly renowned for its red wines, primarily blends of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, offering rich, complex flavours and excellent ageing potential. Notable sub-regions include Médoc, Saint-Émilion, and Pomerol. Bordeaux also produces exquisite white wines, both dry, from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, and sweet, from the Sauternes and Barsac areas. The region's unique terroir, combined with centuries-old winemaking traditions, results in wines of unparalleled quality and distinction. Bordeaux remains a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts seeking world-class wines and a rich viticultural heritage.
