Description

Enticing nose of dark fruit, cherry and light oak aromatics. The palate is layered with juicy red fruit and ripe cherries followed by a fine tannin structure. The finish is vibrant and lengthy with a subtle spice from the oak ageing.

A field blend from 30+ year old vineyards. Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz. A portion is fermented in traditional "lagars" and the balance in stainless steel tanks with regular pump-overs. 16 Months "elevage" in old French Oak.

Rita Marques (a young dynamic Portuguese winemaker) and Marc Kent (long term cellarmaster of Boekenhoutskloof in South Africa) founded Companhia de Vinhos Invencível in 2020. The two winemakers, who had previously collaborated in 2015, 2016 and 2017 in South Africa and 2018 and 2019 in Portugal, embrace now a bigger commitment, acquiring an estate in Casais do Douro.

The pair focus on old field blends of indigenous varieties from high-altitude vineyards located on the vertiginous slopes of the Douro. The free-draining, granitic soils and extreme continental climate of the Douro allow for intensely concentrated grapes which result in complex, textural wines, bursting with personality and vigour.
