One the nose, it develops a lovely bouquet of red and black fruits. This wine is full and aromatic on the palate, and the delicate spicy notes bring additional charm. The structure is well-balanced on silky tannins. The finish combines fruit intensity and freshness.

Causse Rouge is an everyday pleasurable red wine from F. Thienpont. Made up of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc from clay and limestone soils in Bordeaux. It matures for 8 months in tank on fine lees.

Thienpont Wine

The Thienponts are a well-established Flemish family from Belgium. Camille Thienpont started a wine merchant business in Etikhove in 1842. By the beginning of the 20th century, the wine business was run by Georges Thienpont who travelled regularly to Bordeaux to purchase wines. In 1921 he bought Château Troplong Mondot, followed 3 years later by the magnificent Vieux Château Certan . Today, Jacques Thienpont and his wife run the much-expanded business aided by their nephew Alexander De Raeymaeker.
