Description

From the high-altitude, granite-soiled Sierra de Gredos near Madrid, A Pie de Tierra's Gre2 Garnacha 2023 is a beautifully delicate and expressive red. This 100% Garnacha pours a pale, inviting red, offering an elegant nose of rose petals, wild strawberries, and a subtle forest floor earthiness. On the palate, it's juicy and lifted, bursting with light red fruit and a whisper of spice, reminiscent of a fine Pinot Noir, yet distinctly Garnacha. Crafted with organic, low-intervention methods, fermented with native yeasts in various vessels, and bottled unfiltered and unfined with minimal sulfur, it's an elegant, fresh, and quietly complex wine. At around 13% ABV, this vegan-friendly offering is a pure expression of its mountain terroir, perfect for veggie tapas or light roasted dishes.

A Pie de Tierra

Founded by sommelier Aitor Paul and winemaker David Villamiel, the winery is dedicated solely to Garnacha from 40–90-year-old vines rooted in granitic and sandy soils. Located in Méntrida, near the Alberche River and facing the Sierra de Gredos, the vineyards thrive in a Mediterranean landscape. Manual harvesting, spontaneous fermentations, and indigenous yeasts reflect a commitment to tradition and terroir. Each bottle captures the purity of the grape and the soul of its unique environment.

Madrid

Madrid, located in central Spain, is an emerging wine region known for its diverse offerings and quality production. It benefits from a continental climate with hot, dry summers and cold winters, which influences the characteristics of its wines.
It is particularly known for its robust reds, notably from Tempranillo and Garnacha, which offer rich fruit flavours, depth, and well-structured profiles. The area also produces notable whites, including those from the Airén and Verdejo grapes, appreciated for their freshness and aromatic qualities.
