A Vin de France négociant red from Anne and Jean-François Ganevat, the 2024 Poulprix is a blend of Gamay from Fleurie and Pinot Noir from Alsace, hand picked and vinified by cold semi-carbonic maceration before ageing for ten months in truncated wooden vats. It relies on indigenous yeasts and is bottled without fining, filtration or added sulphur, so expect a lively glass with a little natural spritz. The nose is bright and fruit forward, showing red cherry, redcurrant and a touch of crushed flowers, while the palate is juicy, supple and energetic, carried along by fresh acidity and a persistent, mouth watering finish. A gluggable, sociable red best served with a light chill alongside charcuterie, roast chicken or a simple bistro supper, though do note this is one of Ganevat's shifting négociant cuvées, so the blend and character can vary a little from year to year.
