Description

A delightfully light, juicy, and expressive Blaufränkisch from Burgenland, Austria, crafted with organic and biodynamic principles. Poured with a bright, light red hue, it offers immediate appeal with aromas and flavors bursting with cherry sweets, raspberry, and a hint of citrus and herbal spice. This vibrant red is light on tannin, boasting a refreshing acidity and a subtle spritz upon opening, making it incredibly drinkable and perfect when served chilled. It's a natural, vegan-friendly wine that embodies purity and playfulness, truly a "good-time wine" that disappears too quickly.

Judith Beck

The Beck family estate, located in the village of Gols, was founded by her father, Matthias Beck, in 1976. Judith took over winemaking responsibilities in 2004 after studying oenology and gaining experience in renowned wineries across Europe, including Cos d’Estournel in Bordeaux and Braida in Italy.
The estate spans approximately 15 hectares, planted with a mix of indigenous Austrian varietals such as Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch, and St. Laurent, as well as international varieties like Chardonnay and Merlot. Since taking over, Judith has converted the entire vineyard to biodynamic practices, certified by Demeter since 2007. Her approach in the vineyard is one of minimal intervention, with a strong emphasis on maintaining the natural balance of the ecosystem and enhancing soil health through composting, cover crops, and avoiding synthetic chemicals.

Burgenland

Burgenland, a prominent wine region in eastern Austria, is renowned for its diverse and high-quality wines. Historically, Burgenland was part of Hungary until 1921, and its winemaking traditions reflect a blend of Austrian and Hungarian influences. The region's climate, with hot summers and the moderating influence of Lake Neusiedl, is ideal for both red and white grape varieties.

Burgenland is particularly famous for its red wines, with Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt being the standout grapes, producing full-bodied, spicy wines. It also excels in white wines, with Grüner Veltliner and Welschriesling being notable varieties. Additionally, it is celebrated for its dessert wines, especially the world-class Trockenbeerenauslese made from botrytised grapes near Lake Neusiedl. This rich diversity, coupled with a deep-rooted winemaking heritage, has firmly established Burgenland as one of Austria's premier wine regions.
