Les Hauts de Pepys

Jean Girard first planted vines in 1928, his son Eugène took over the property in the 1940s. Everything accelerated in the 80s, when André Girard took the reins of the farm. A new wind then blew on the lands of Malepère with the desire to readapt the grape varieties to the terroir. The old varieties gave way to ones more conducive to the alliance of the climate and the clay soils of the terroir had to offer.

South-West

The South West Region of France, known for its diverse landscapes and rich winemaking heritage, offers a wide variety of distinctive wines. Benefiting from a mix of Atlantic and Mediterranean influences, the region's climate is ideal for viticulture. It is renowned for its robust reds, such as Malbec from Cahors and Tannat from Madiran, which are known for their deep colour, intense flavours, and excellent ageing potential. The area also produces elegant whites from grapes like Petit Manseng and Gros Manseng in Jurançon, known for their aromatic and vibrant profiles. Additionally, Bergerac and Gaillac are notable appellations offering both red and white wines of exceptional quality. With its combination of unique terroirs, indigenous grape varieties, and traditional winemaking methods, the South West Region provides a rich and varied wine experience for enthusiasts seeking something truly special.
