Martin Wörner, or "Marto," as he is affectionately known, grew up in a family with a long history in farming but initially pursued a different path before returning to his roots with a passion for winemaking. After working and learning from prominent natural winemakers across Europe, including in France and Austria, he launched Marto Wines, focusing on creating wines that are as natural and expressive as possible.
The vineyards Marto Wines sources from are organically farmed, with a mix of local and international grape varieties such as Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, Silvaner, and Muscat. The vineyards are treated with the utmost respect for nature, avoiding synthetic chemicals and fostering biodiversity. Martin’s approach to winemaking is hands-off, allowing the grapes to ferment with native yeasts, often in a mix of stainless steel, neutral oak, and amphorae, depending on the desired expression.
