Description

This wine has delightful aromas of red fruits, particularly Morello cherries and plum. The palate is smooth with good acidity and a wonderful brightness. Not your typical Montepulciano, this wine is much lighter than you might expect. It can even be served lightly chilled if you prefer.

Rabasco

Iole Rabasco is a former lawyer who has been converted to viticulture and winemaking. She inherited her family’s small vineyard on the hills of Pianella, Abruzzo in 2000, halfway between the Adriatic Sea. She says she finds this in her wines: on the one hand the salty freshness of the sea, on the other the mineral strength of the mountains. The vineyards and olive grove boast soils that have never been treated with chemicals and in 2006 she turned it all to biodynamic farming. She grows the two king grape varieties of the region, Montepulciano, red, and Trebbiano, white.

Abruzzo

Abruzzo, located in central Italy along the Adriatic coast, is renowned for its robust and distinctive wines. The region features a range of climates and terrains, from coastal areas to mountainous inland regions, ideal for viticulture. It is particularly famous for its Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, a full-bodied red wine with rich flavors of dark fruit, spices, and earthy notes. The area also produces excellent Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, a crisp white with fresh acidity and notes of green apple and citrus. Abruzzo’s diverse terroirs and traditional winemaking practices, combined with a growing focus on quality, offer a captivating wine experience for enthusiasts seeking both bold reds and refreshing whites.
