Description

A bright, zesty white wine that bursts with energy and freshness. Made from old vines in South Africa’s Swartland region, it offers aromas of green apple, lime zest, white peach, and a hint of fresh herbs. It is crisp, vibrant, and textured on the palate, with flavours of citrus, pear, and a touch of salinity, supported by racy acidity. Lightly textured from natural fermentation and minimal intervention, it finishes clean, mineral, and refreshing. This is a lively, characterful white perfect for sunny afternoons and seafood dishes.

Rebel Rebel

Kayleigh Hattingh is a first-generation winemaker from Stellenbosch, raised in the shadow of the Bottelary Hills. After studying Viticulture and Oenology at Stellenbosch University, she honed her craft at acclaimed wineries including Mullineux and Leeu Family Wines, Ovid in Napa Valley, and Terroir al Limit in Priorat.

In 2018, Kayleigh returned home to join Kaapzicht Wine Estate as assistant winemaker. There, she discovered two exceptional dry-farmed plots of Syrah and Colombard atop a granite hill, framed by boulders and with sweeping views of Table Mountain. The vines thrive in granite-rich soils and benefit from a cooling False Bay breeze, allowing for slow ripening and vibrant natural acidity.

Swartland

Swartland, located in South Africa's Western Cape, is a dynamic wine region celebrated for its robust and distinctive wines. Its Mediterranean climate, marked by hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters, combined with its varied soil types, creates ideal conditions for viticulture.
The area is renowned for its powerful reds, particularly from Syrah and Grenache, which exhibit bold fruit flavours, spice, and a characteristic earthiness. It also excels in producing expressive Chenin Blancs, known for their richness, complexity, and vibrant acidity.
