Description

Lagrein is native to Alto Adige in northern Italy, and the Gries district of Bolzano, sheltered by the surrounding mountains, is its historic heartland. Terlan’s 2023 opens with earthy, mineral notes and ripe cherry and blueberry fruit, building to a gently spiced, soft-textured palate with fresh acidity carrying it through to the finish. Twelve months in large oak botti adds texture without masking the fruit. Deeply coloured and generous, yet never heavy, it is a natural partner for roast duck, game or mushroom risotto. A great pick for fans of Austrian Blaufränkisch or Northern Rhône Syrah looking for something new.
