Testalonga

Testalonga is run by Craig and Carla Hawkins in the Swartland region of South Africa, right on the southwest tip and just north of Cape Town in a province called the Western Cape. It's quite a dry, arid, Mediterranean climate. Craig is widely regarded as a pioneer of orange wines in South Africa, typically made with the Chenin Blanc grape. It was a skin macerated Vermentino from Antonio Perrino which absolutely blew his mind and made him want to make wine. He says it "spoke of something that I hadn’t felt before. It’s actually where the name Testalonga comes from. He was my inspiration."

Swartland

Swartland, located in South Africa's Western Cape, is a dynamic wine region celebrated for its robust and distinctive wines. Its Mediterranean climate, marked by hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters, combined with its varied soil types, creates ideal conditions for viticulture.
The area is renowned for its powerful reds, particularly from Syrah and Grenache, which exhibit bold fruit flavours, spice, and a characteristic earthiness. It also excels in producing expressive Chenin Blancs, known for their richness, complexity, and vibrant acidity.
