TrustScore 4.9| 764 reviewsAsked for something like a Rioja, got better
Went in with a vague idea and came out with a Monastrell I had never heard of. Half the price of what I usually buy and better.

Expert advice made all the difference
Needed twelve bottles for a party and no idea where to start. They built the case around what we were eating.

Worth the walk up Highbury Park
I have been coming here for years and they still remember what I drink. Free local delivery keeps the flat stocked.

They actually taste everything
Asked why a bottle was recommended and got a real answer, not a shelf label. That is the whole difference.

Does the shape of my decanter matter?
Yes, the shape of your decanter matters. A wide base increases the wine's surface area, enhancing aeration and allowing the wine to breathe, which is ideal for bold red wines. Narrow-neck decanters help retain aromas and are better for older, delicate wines. The shape can also aid in separating sediment. Ultimately, the decanter’s design can influence the wine's flavour and aroma, enhancing your overall drinking experience.
How long can I lay down wine for?
The length of time you can lay down wine depends on the type and quality. High-quality red wines like Bordeaux, Barolo, and Burgundy can age for 10-20 years or more. Premium white wines, such as Grand Cru Chablis and Riesling, can age for 5-15 years. Most everyday wines, both red and white, are best consumed within 2-5 years. Proper storage conditions—cool, dark, and with stable humidity—are crucial for ageing wine effectively.
What is the ideal serving temperature for wine?
The ideal serving temperature for wine varies by type. Red wines are best served slightly below room temperature, between 15-18°C, to enhance their flavours and aromas. Lighter reds like Pinot Noir can be served at the cooler end. White wines should be chilled to 7-12°C, with fuller-bodied whites like Chardonnay served warmer than lighter ones like Sauvignon Blanc. Rosé wines are ideally served at 10-12°C. Sparkling wines and Champagne should be well chilled, between 6-10°C, to preserve their bubbles and crispness.
Is Chardonnay oaked?
Chardonnay can be oaked or unoaked. Oaked Chardonnay is aged in oak barrels, giving it rich, buttery flavours with notes of vanilla and spice. Unoaked Chardonnay, often aged in stainless steel, retains a crisper profile with vibrant fruit flavours like green apple and citrus. The style depends on the winemaker's approach and regional traditions.
What does Gran Reserva mean?
'Gran Reserva' in wine indicates a high-quality designation, primarily in Spain. It means the wine has undergone extensive ageing before release: at least five years for red wines, with a minimum of two years in oak barrels and three years in the bottle. For white and rosé wines, it requires a minimum of four years ageing, with at least six months in oak. This ageing process results in complex, refined wines with enhanced flavours and aromas.
