El Sequé is Artadi’s Mediterranean expression of Monastrell, produced from organically farmed vineyards surrounding the village of Pinoso in Alicante. Founded by Juan Carlos López de Lacalle in partnership with local grower Agapito Rico, the project has become one of the leading references for refined, terroir-driven Monastrell in southeastern Spain, combining Mediterranean warmth with remarkable freshness and elegance.
Old-vine Monastrel grown on poor, stony soils at altitude near the Sierra de Salinas, giving freshness despite Alicante's heat. Artadi's hands-off approach shows through in a vibrant, terroir-driven style: dark and red fruit with herbal and floral lift, fine tannins and lively acidity. Restrained rather than jammy or heavily oaked. Structured and juicy, drinking well now but with the balance to reward a few years in the cellar.
