Description

Yann has been a purveyor of biodynamic practices during the last 15 years in Savoie and were previously employed at Chateau de Merande to help them convert the Domaine to biodynamic farming. He returned home in Haute Savoie to work with Dominique Belluard, a friend and a mentor. He starts Domaine Belema from scratch, first as a negocion before planting some of his own vines in the village in 2019.

A beautiful wine. It possesses a weightless quality with a touch of honeycomb and ginger.

Domaine Belema

Domaine Bléma, located in the heart of Savoie, produces wines that highlight the region’s alpine terroir with a focus on freshness and purity. The winery follows sustainable farming practices, working with local grape varieties such as Jacquère, Altesse, and Mondeuse. Hand-harvested grapes are vinified with minimal intervention to preserve their natural expression.

Winemaking at Domaine Bléma emphasizes precision and balance, using indigenous yeasts for fermentation and aging primarily in stainless steel to retain crisp acidity and bright aromatics. Some wines see lees aging for added texture and complexity. The result is a collection of vibrant, mineral-driven whites and elegant, expressive reds that reflect the cool-climate finesse of Savoie. Domaine Bléma is committed to crafting wines that capture the essence of the mountains, offering freshness, energy, and a true sense of place.

Savoie

Savoie, in the French Alps, is renowned for its cool climate wines and stunning landscapes. The mountainous terroir and varied soils produce fresh, aromatic wines. It excels in white wines from indigenous grapes like Jacquère, Altesse (Roussette), and Roussanne, known for their crisp acidity and delicate floral and fruity aromas. Light, vibrant reds from Mondeuse and Gamay, as well as delightful sparkling wines, are also prominent. Reflecting the alpine environment, Savoie wines pair perfectly with local cuisine, such as cheeses and freshwater fish. Savoie offers a captivating experience for wine enthusiasts seeking unique and high-quality alpine wines.
