Cassis and blackberry with graphite, dried herbs and cedar, then fine-grained tannins and a long, cool-edged finish. Serious Cabernet built for the cellar, though it already gives plenty with a decant. The fruit comes from four adjacent parcels on a south-western slope of the Franschhoek Valley, sandy loam over granite, with 15 per cent Cabernet Franc in the blend. Cold soaked in concrete, fermented with frequent pump-overs, then malolactic and ageing in French barriques with a high proportion of new oak.
