Description

Rita’s approach with this wine is to respect the winemaking traditions of the Dão. The “Jardim de Granito” collection is produced in the granite soils of the hills around Silgueiros, at a vineyard surrounded by oak and pine forests. The wines have been conceived to express the elegance and gastronomic heritage of the region.

After manual harvest in 20kg containers, Rita begins pressing the whole grapes, the must was subjected to static decantation at a low temperature for 24 hours. It was then passed to a stainless-steel vat where the wine was fermented and aged, locking in the freshness of the Encruzado and preserving the floral aromas. The Encruzado varietyis reknowned for it's ability to age, and this has great potential to evolve in the bottle for years to come.

Clear, bright, lemon colour. Aromatically intense wine, with notes of yellow pulp fruit such as peach and nectarine, with a lot of floral intensity. Firm and well-integrated acidity. Very balanced and persistent finish.

Perfectly matches chicken and leek pie, risotto with squash and almonds & bouillabaisse!

Dao

Dão, located in central Portugal, is a historic and esteemed wine region known for its distinctive and elegant wines. Surrounded by the mountains of the Serra da Estrela and Serra do Caramulo, the Dão region benefits from a temperate climate with significant temperature variations between day and night, ideal for viticulture.
Historically, it has been a significant wine-producing area since Roman times, with formal wine cultivation dating back to the 19th century. The area is renowned for its red wines made from indigenous varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, and Jaen, which produce structured, complex reds with dark fruit flavours, spicy notes, and good ageing potential. It is also known for its aromatic whites, particularly from the Encruzado grape, offering crisp acidity and notes of citrus and mineral.
The combination of its rich history, unique terroir, and a focus on both traditional and modern winemaking techniques makes Dão a distinguished and captivating wine region.
