Chateau Musar

Musar in Arabic is ‘M’zar; it means an ‘extraordinary beauty/shrine to be visited.’ The vineyard was first planted by Gaston Hochar in 1930 upon his return from Bordeaux. The vineyards are situated towards the southern end of the Bekaa valley, north of Lake Qaroun and about 30 km south-east of Beirut. Every wine at Musar is produced naturally with a ‘non-interventionist’ philosophy and the winery was the first in Lebanon to implement organically certified viticulture in 2006.

Bekaa Valley

The Bekaa Valley in Lebanon is a prominent and historic wine region known for its unique and high-quality wines. Located between the Anti-Lebanon Mountains and the Mount Lebanon range, the valley benefits from a Mediterranean climate with warm, sunny days and cool nights, ideal for viticulture. It is renowned for its robust reds, particularly from the Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Cinsault grapes, which produce rich, full-bodied wines with complex flavours and good ageing potential. The area also excels in whites, including Chardonnay and Viognier, known for their aromatic profiles and crisp acidity. With its blend of ancient winemaking traditions and modern techniques, the Bekaa Valley offers a distinctive and compelling wine experience.
