Description

A blend of 75% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, Laurel captures everything that makes Priorat such a compelling appellation. The Grenache brings dense, dark fruit and warmth, while the Syrah adds structure and a peppery, exotic spice. A touch of Cabernet Sauvignon lends backbone and a fine tannic grip.

What really sets Laurel apart is the licorella minerality running through the wine, that distinctive slate character carved from Priorat's steep, terraced vineyards. It lifts the palate and gives real focus, keeping the wine fresh and precise rather than heavy or overripe. There's a lovely tension between the ripe, concentrated fruit and that mineral drive, with fine tannins and real elegance carrying through to a long finish.

This is Priorat with real finesse: powerful enough to reward cellaring, yet with a freshness that makes it thoroughly enjoyable now.

Clos Erasmus

Clos I Terrasses, who make Clos Erasmus, was born in 1989, Daphne Glorian was persuaded by her friends, Priorat legends Alvaro Palacios and Rene Barbier, to spend all her savings on some old Garnacha vines planted on 17 terraces of hillside vines, just outside the village of Gratallops. The first 10 vintages were made at Barbier’s Clos Mogador, until Daphne purchased an old cellar from Palacios. The wines have gone from strength to strength, mixing the characteristic dense fruit, exotic spice and licorella minerality with a freshness and elegance that sets the wine apart from many of this grand appellation.

Catalunya

Catalunya, located in northeastern Spain, is a prominent and diverse wine region known for its rich history and wide range of high-quality wines. The region enjoys a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and mild winters, ideal for viticulture. Catalunya is renowned for its exceptional Cava, a sparkling wine produced mainly in the Penedès region, known for its freshness and complexity and the area also excels in producing robust reds from varieties such as Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Cariñena, which offer rich fruit flavours and well-structured profiles. White wines, including those from the Xarel·lo and Macabeo grapes, are celebrated for their crispness and aromatic qualities.
