This wine has matured for a year and a half in smooth American oak barrels, followed by another half a year in the bottle, giving it a rich and complex aroma of ripe redcurrant and delicate rose petals. On the palate, it delivers a full-bodied and intense experience of juicy black fruit flavours. To enjoy it fully, decant it well in advance.
Alejandro Fernandez of Pesquera de Duero initiated the replanting of Spains Ribera del Duero region in the 1970s where his red wines made from Tempranillo grapes are internationally famous. Condado de Haza is a south-facing slope along one kilometre of the Duero River where planting began in 1989. Superior exposure and soils artisanal winemaking and fifteen months in oak yield a noble wine of which Alejandro is justifiably proud.
"This crianza shows aromas of dates, orange rind, cigar box and espresso. Full and chewy with good freshness, toasty walnut flavors and a solid finish. Drink now or hold."
