Description

Jabal de Bargylus is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Syrah, aged in oak barrels for 6 to 8 months.

The Bargylus winery is precisely located near the town of Deir Touma, Syria, which literally means "Convent of Thomas", not far from the last vestiges of the Crusader era and the illustrious Saladin.

Typically Mediterranean, Bargylus elegantly combines strength and finesse: the aromatic range is defined by fresh fruit and minerality transmitted from very stony soils. Domaine de Bargylus is managed by two brothers Karim and Sandro Saadé, with the assistance of renowned consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt. It has been cited by wine critic Jancis Robinson as "arguably the finest wine of the Eastern Mediterranean."

Chateau Bargylus

The Bargylus winery is located near the town of Deir Touma, northwest Syria, which literally means "Convent of Thomas", not far from the last vestiges of the Crusader era and the illustrious Saladin. It is currently Syria’s only surviving commercial winery. Managed by two brothers, Karim and Sandro Saadé, with the assistance of renowned Bordeaux consultant Stéphane Derencourt, they make a distinctive red and a white blend, crafted from Syrah, Cabernet, and Merlot, and Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc respectively.

Mount Bargylus

Syria is a mid-sized country in the western Middle East (also known as the Near East), situated between the eastern edge of the Mediterranean Sea and the deserts of Iraq.

Domaine de Bargylus lies in Latakia province on the slopes of the Coastal Mountain Range (Mount Bargylus) to the north of Lebanon.
