A bright, expressive Pinot Noir from the Côte Chalonnaise, this Mercurey from Domaine de la Monette shows the fresh, finely drawn style of the 2024 vintage. It pours a translucent ruby and opens with lifted aromas of red cherry, raspberry and redcurrant, joined by hints of violet, forest floor and a gentle touch of sweet spice. The palate is light to medium bodied and supple, with juicy red fruit framed by crunchy acidity and fine, silky tannins, and a savoury, earthy thread that gives it real Burgundian character. The finish is clean and refreshing with a lingering note of wild strawberry. Drinking well now, and all the better with a light chill, it's a lovely match for roast chicken, duck, charcuterie, mushroom dishes or grilled salmon.
