100% Syrah from two sites, one surrounded by Cote Rotie vineyards, the other just outside the appelation. Mainly whole-bunch, and vinified very much in the style of its more illustriously-labelled (and priced!) stablemates. Far more than just a Cote-du-Rhone, this is a real taste of Cote-Rotie style northern-Rhone Syrah.
Équivoque lives up to its name in the best way, offering a wine that keeps you guessing and coming back for more. Ripe black cherry and plum fruit sit alongside earthy garrigue, dried herbs and a subtle peppery kick that speaks clearly of the northern Rhône. The palate is generous but not heavy, with good freshness lifting the mid-weight tannins towards a clean, savoury finish. Terrific wine from one of the appellation's most respected names.
Drinks well 3 years from vintage, but will continue to gain complexity from 5 - 10, and can happily be cellared for up to 15 years.
