A famous top vineyard site whose history goes back a long way. The name "Kahlenberg" was mentioned as early as 1499. Here, the Riesling wines grow in a soil of gravelly loam. This gives the wines a much desired spicy note. The Kahlenberg has a special talent for yielding dry wines due to the full body and harmonious acidity of the wines growing here. This is the best rated vineyard in Bad Kreuznach.
Fermented and matured in large wooden barrels and stainless steel vats. A Riesling wine with ripe fruit on the nose, great finesse and a well-defined, cool minerality.
"This site was less affected by frost, with only 25% lost.
Delicate reduction yields to orange blossom and apricot. Initial ripeness, then a savoury, almost leafy herbaceousness unfolds. Surprisingly green-edged and graceful, all carried by a racy acidity. Finishes cool and zesty. Drink to 2033."
