Tasting note

Palo Blanco is one of the standout expressions of Tenerife's volcanic terroir, made from 100% Listán Blanco grown on ungrafted, century-old vines across the Valle de la Orotava. Fermented in concrete and aged in large old foudres with no additions, fining or filtration, this is a wine made to show pure site character rather than winemaking flourish.

The nose is clean and mineral, with citrus peel, crushed rock and a touch of smoke, though it can show a little reductive tightness fresh off the bottling line, so a decant or a few months' rest will bring it into focus. On the palate it's linear and taut: a pure acid line, gentle phenolic grip, and a stony, salty core that speaks more of soil than of fruit. The finish is long and doesn't let up.

This is Tenerife white wine at its most precise: high-altitude, high-tension and built for those who want minerality and structure over easy charm. Given the acidity and concrete-and-foudre ageing, this is a wine that should develop beautifully over the next several years.

Envínate, meaning "wine-yourself," is the inspired creation of four friends—Laura Ramos, Jose Martínez, Roberto Santana, and Alfonso Torrente—who met while studying oenology at the University of Miguel Hernández in Alicante. Their focus is on reviving ancient, Atlantic-influenced terruños in Ribeira Sacra, the Canary Islands, and Almansa. Their philosophy is simple yet profound: allow each parcel to speak for itself through traditional farming and winemaking practices. Envínate encompasses four distinct projects: Lousas in Ribeira Sacra, Táganan and Benje in Tenerife, and Albahra in Almansa.

They are renowned for their distinctive wines made from indigenous grape varieties such as Listán Negro, Listán Blanco, and Malvasía. These wines often exhibit unique characteristics due to the volcanic soil and diverse microclimates of the islands. The reds, particularly from Listán Negro, offer bright fruit flavours and mineral complexity, while the whites, including those made from Malvasía, are celebrated for their aromatic profiles and crisp freshness.

Delivery is free on orders over £120. Otherwise, standard delivery is £6.95 and usually arrives within 48 hours, excluding weekends. You can request a delivery date during checkout using the notes section.
