Description

A tiny parcel of this wine is made each year from an all-Bulgarian line up of grapes grown in the ancient Thracian Valley.

A new delight from our friends esteemed Peter and Rado, this wine is described by them as a “mixtape” of the wonderful indigenous grape varieties of Bulgaria - Pamid, Rubin & Mavrud. A limited parcel of 120 bottles, the wine undergoes a spontaneous barrel fermentation before ageing gently over 8 months.

Beautifully complex acidity, fresh berry fruit and ripe tannins caress the palate. A delight with charcuterie & aged cheese.

Georgiev & Milkov

Georgiev & Milkov is a Bulgarian wine project founded in 2014 by oenologists Petar Georgiev and Radostin Milkov. Both graduates of the University of Food Technology in Plovdiv, they have garnered extensive international winemaking experience in countries such as Austria, Malta, the United States, New Zealand, and China. Their shared passion for Bulgarian indigenous grape varieties led them to establish this venture, aiming to showcase the contemporary potential of local cultivars.

The duo focuses on sourcing grapes from old vineyards in the Plovdiv region, particularly emphasising varieties like Mavrud from Novi Izvor and Rubin from Brestovitsa. Their commitment to expressing the authentic character of these grapes involves meticulous vineyard selection and minimal intervention winemaking techniques. Notably, they do not own vineyards but collaborate closely with local growers to ensure high-quality fruit.

Situated in the southern part of the country, the valley benefits from a warm, sunny climate and diverse soils, ideal for viticulture. It is particularly famous for its red wines, including the indigenous Mavrud, which offers rich, complex flavours of dark berries and spices.
