Paczków, a historic Polish city known as the “Polish Carcassonne,” is encircled by a well-preserved 14th-century defensive wall. A stone’s throw from the market square lies a 5-hectare vineyard established in 2005, boasting optimal conditions for viticulture. The vineyard cultivates a variety of white and red grapes, producing wines that have garnered acclaim among connoisseurs. Adjacent to an 18th-century barn, the vineyard houses a modern winery, continuing Paczków’s legacy of historical charm and wine excellence.
Johanniter is a purpose-bred, white grape found in small pockets in Germany and Switzerland as well as in Poland. It was born in 1968 by the crossing of Riesling with an unnamed grape of the lineage Seyve Villard 12-481 x (Rulander x Gutedel). Johanniter is somewhat similar to Riesling in its flavour profile, with slightly less acidity and the potential to achieve good must weights.
This Johanniter is golden straw colour. It's a balanced wine with good, lively acidity. It has concertrated ripe fruit, petrol, chamomile and some savoury character. Very fresh!Quite long in the mouth with some spice at the end.
