From the rugged Atlantic coastline of the Basque Country, Artadi's Izar-Leku is one of Spain's most distinctive sparkling wines - a traditional-method Txakoli that combines razor-sharp freshness with remarkable depth and precision.
Produced from predominantly Hondarrabi Zuri with a small proportion of Hondarrabi Beltza, the 2022 vintage is shaped by cool ocean breezes, steep coastal vineyards and the mineral-rich flysch soils of Getariako Txakolina. After secondary fermentation in bottle, the wine spends an extended 36 months on lees, building texture, complexity and exceptionally fine mousse while retaining the vibrant energy that defines great Txakoli.
Dosage is kept extremely low at just 1 g/L, allowing the wine's saline character and crystalline acidity to shine through with uncompromising clarity.
The nose opens with aromas of lemon peel, green apple, white flowers and sea spray, followed by subtle notes of toasted brioche, chalk and crushed oyster shell. On the palate, it is taut, bone dry and intensely mineral, with delicate bubbles, piercing citrus freshness and a long, savoury Atlantic finish.
