Odessos

Odessos is one of the new Bulgarian wineries with a non-standard and modern concept located in the city of Varna.

The story begins in 2016. Traveling around the world and gaining experience in some of the most prestigious wineries in Australia, New Zealand and Chile, the brothers Georgi Vankov and Vladislav Vankov came up with the idea of creating one of the first urban wineries in Bulgaria.

The endless hours of work in different wineries around the world help them to gain experience and also realize that the most valuable quality of a wine is the terroir. This clarified the motto and philosophy behind Odessos Winery - to pursue and present their own interpretation of the Northern Black Sea region, working with precisely selected vineyards around the seaside city.

The first official vintage of the winery is 2020.

Black Sea

The Black Sea region in Bulgaria, known for its picturesque coastline and maritime influence, is a notable wine-producing area with a unique and diverse wine profile. It benefits from a moderate climate, with cool sea breezes that temper the summer heat and mild winters, creating ideal conditions for grape growing. The Black Sea region is particularly renowned for its white wines, such as Dimyat, a local variety known for its fresh, floral, and fruity characteristics, and Chardonnay, which often exhibits a crisp acidity and minerality. It also excels in producing elegant and aromatic Sauvignon Blanc and vibrant rosé wines. The fertile soils and coastal influence contribute to the distinctiveness and quality of the wines from this area. As the Bulgarian wine industry continues to thrive, the Black Sea region offers a delightful experience for wine enthusiasts seeking fresh, aromatic, and well-balanced wines.
