Olifantsberg is passionate about producing authentic wines which reflect the unique location of their vineyard and with a focus on sustainable farming and winemaking practices. This results in limited intervention in both the vineyard and cellar. The unique terroir with its combination of Breede-shale, Renosterveld and sandstone soils, constant winds and elevation, produces concentrated fruit that translates into elegant, fresh and age-worthy wines.

This 100% Roussanne wine from Breedekloof in South Africa's Western Cape is delicate, with inviting aromas of white peach, white blossom and spicy coriander and ginger which lead to a fresh, crisp palate, with lovely balance and an intriguing pithy note on the finish.

Olifantsberg

The wines of Olifantsberg in South Africa reflect the legend of Olifantsberg and its distinct personality. Their aim is to produce wines that accurately portray the terroir, and taste natural, balanced and not overworked. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts and whole bunches, and using more natural vessels like foudres and concrete eggs which help to preserve fruit purity, are just some of the techniques they use to achieve this. Winemaker Elizma Visser transforms the concentrated fruit from the distinctive terroir, which combines Breede-shale, Renosterveld, and sandstone soils with persistent winds and elevation, into delicate, fresh, and age-worthy wines. Elizma received the esteemed Young Winemaker of the Year Award, in 2021.

Breedekloof, located in South Africa’s Western Cape, is a notable wine region renowned for its diverse and high-quality wines. Positioned in a valley surrounded by mountains, it benefits from a range of microclimates and soil types, creating ideal conditions for viticulture.
The area is particularly celebrated for its robust reds, such as Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, which are known for their deep fruit flavours, spicy notes, and excellent ageing potential. It also produces impressive whites, including Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc, valued for their fresh, crisp profiles and vibrant acidity.
